My sister is a teacher, and she absolutely loves her job. When she started teaching first grade in her school, after teaching third grade for years, she decided she did not like their reading program. She approached the principal about trying a phonics program in her class, rather than do what they had been doing there for years. The principal was skeptical, but then my sister’s class took a giant leap past the other first grade classes when it came to the accelerated reading program. Their test grades showed that they were more advanced in reading than the classes who were not using her program.
