The ambassador of Mexico to the United States is Arturo Sarukhan sounded disappointed that reform doesn’t seem likely in 2010. He claimed that the “Radical conservative wing” in the United States would shoot down a “general amnesty that would immediately legalize undocumented migrants”. Considering the effect that undocumented workers have on the unemployment rate, health care costs, insurance rates, and our educational system, it seems that more than just the “radicals” would have a problem with a sweeping acceptance of everyone. The Federation for American Immigration Reform has many studies to prove these claims. The quotas and yearly acceptance numbers are limited for a reason, to protect the citizens of the country from these kinds of problems. A steady stream of migration is better and more manageable that the great influxes that acceptance of everyone would cause.
