As I am Facing Cancer Now, I find that getting a second opinion is getting complicated. After a bunch of phone calls between the insurance company-Blue Cross and Blue Shield-and the hospital, it was finally decided I was fully covered for a second opinion. This was no small deal as if I was only 60/40 covered, I would never be able to afford the tests that will of course be ordered. I got an appointment with the GIST specialist at Winship in Atlanta and now I find that she is leaving. It’s hard to find a specialist for an orphan cancer. So now we are looking at Chicago. I am so tired of this and I am not even getting started yet.
